Hi, I'm Krystal!

Welcome to my blog, “A Blog by Krystal George”. This has been a long time coming. Practically years in the making.

Ever since I knew myself, I’ve been a dreamer. I’ve known for a long time that I wanted to create a space for others to grow, but my vision needed time to blossom. Growing up as an Afro-Caribbean kid, I didn’t see a lot of people like me talking about health and relationships in a compassionate way. I knew we had a lot of great recipes, but no one ever took the time to record them. A lot of my peers struggled in silence with their family, relationships and mental health. I grew up with people who had a lot of wisdom, but not much tact. Sometimes wisdom can be conveyed in a way that doesn’t make it feel safe to ask more questions.

Therefore, my dream was birthed out of lack. A lack of clarity on how to navigate faith and doubt. A lack of clarity on how to heal from past broken relationships and low self esteem. And a lack of clarity of how to heal one’s self (and family) through food, in a way that wasn’t weaponizing. Now that time is finally here, and I’m so grateful that I get to make room for the lack.

A Time For Thank You’s.

To my advisor in college, now turned Big Sister/Mentor, Dr. Lewis. Thank you for seeing my dream way before I could even see it. When I was in that program meeting with you and Dr. Peterson, I had no idea that what I was saying could actually come true. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

To the patients I met, while I worked in the hospital as a Clinical Dietitian. Thank you for being vulnerable with me as I served you. So much of this website is linked to my desire to create more resources for you. I want you to feel seen, and to know that your needs matter.

To my old co-workers like Danya, Jenan, Abi, Laura, Elise, Gena, Eugene, Maple, Brandon, and Marge, thank you for nurturing the early phases of my Dietitian career. I am a better Dietitian because of you all.

To my childhood friends, Lauren, Bernice, Rhea, Danielle. Thank you for eating all of my experimental recipes as a teen (ie: lasagna, over-frozen ice cream cupcakes, fried doughnuts that turned out to be fry bakes LOL). You all nurtured the teenage dreamer in me, and I’m so grateful for that.

To the friends I’ve made in the last 5-10 years, Rosanne, Ron, Lena, Nyjah, Melissa, Sandra, Michelle, Ciara, Theo, Alanna, thank you for being my taste testers and listening to me blabber about food. But for real, thank you for believing in my dream. To have friends that stand alongside you as you grow, is a blessing I don’t take for granted.

Lastly, to my cousins, siblings and my parents, thank you. Thank you for your encouragement, your money (haha), taste testing, and for supporting me through all of my accomplishments and dreams. I don’t know that I would have gotten this far in life without you.

Now enough of the thank you’s. Y’all go and enjoy this website! I look forward to sharing more with you all.
