This April 2023, I decided to go to Disneyland for Easter. If you know me well, you know that my family is obsessed with going to the Disney theme parks. Lately I’ve been leaning more into my inner child, and planning days that invoke fun and lightheartedness. Disney theme parks are known for decorating their parks for special holidays such as Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and Easter. For more information on their Special Days of the Year list, click here. My sister and I had never been to Disneyland on Easter, or for many of their holiday events, but needless to say, it will definitely be something we will be making a tradition. Here’s what we did on my visit to Disneyland on Easter.
Securing Tickets
First things first. If you’re a resident of Southern California, Disney offers discounted weekday tickets, starting at $73/day. Here’s the catch though. The tickets are offered for a minimum of 3 days. *thumbs down Disneyland*. So I had to purchase the standard ticket for my visit to Disneyland on Easter Sunday, since I only planned to visit for one day. Nevertheless, I didn’t regret it. Once you decide how many days you’ll visit for, you will have to choose the single park pass or a park hopper option. California has two parks: Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, so it’s important to do your research on the parks.
Lastly, Disney has created a fairly new feature called Genie +, that allows you to book a time slot to go on a ride. This isn’t 100% necessary if you don’t mind waiting on the line. But I will warn you, the line for popular attractions can go up to more than an hour.
Dining Options
During March to April, Disney usually has its California Adventure Food and Wine Festival. This is held at Disney California Adventure Park. The event features Disney Chef’s creative cuisines and dishes, as well as culinary demonstrations, live music, and mixology seminars. I wanted to go to this SO BADLY, but it just wasn’t in the budget. My next option was to look at restaurants at Disneyland and at Disney Springs, which is Disney’s dining and shopping district. To my surprise, all the restaurant’s that required reservations, were booked out at least 1-2 months out. So unfortunately, we didn’t eat at any of the fancy restaurants. However, Disneyland and Disney Springs still have snack kiosks, and restaurants that accept walk in dining, and to go orders.
Attractions/Events
If you have kids, or if you’re a big kid, you can participate in the Disneyland Egg-Stravaganza, which basically is an Easter egg scavenger hunt throughout the park. You can go to guest services and ask for the instructions if this is something you’re interested in. Disney also has flower/Easter theme Mickey ears that you can purchase in their stores at the park or at Disney Springs. Wearing the Mickey Ears is a pretty popular thing to do if you frequent at Disney parks.
I’m glad I still have the freedom to do things like visiting Disneyland on a whim, and I look forward to sharing my next adventure with you!
